Northwest Richland Sewage Customers to See Small Decrease

Customers of the Richland County Broad River Regional Sewer System will see a slight decrease in their monthly sewage rate beginning July 1.

Residents' monthly sewer bill will be reduced by $2 per month from the current $46.54 to $44.54, according to a release. Commercial customers will see a reduction based on their residential equivalent units.

The rate change applies to about 10,000 customers in a large portion of northwest Richland County, including Harbison and Irmo areas.

Officials say the rate cut, which is an annual savings of $240,000, is made possible by efficient wastewater treatment operations and the settlement of a dispute relating to the construction of the new wastewater treatment facility.
