Nursery Road's Success Highlighted in ETV Toolkit, Video

Nursery Road Elementary School develops a toolkit to help schools achieve success.

, in conjunction with the Diversity Leadership Initiative (DLI) of the Riley Institute, developed a toolkit to help transform struggling schools.

The team's goal was to discover the formula for Nursery Road Elementary's success, and then offer other schools the tools to achieve the same success.

The toolkit, offered as a free download, includes examples of techniques, concepts and strategies to assist school administrators, community leaders, and parents to create a school environment that generates measurable improvements in school culture, working relationships and student success.

The toolkit is designed to encourage educators to replicate the success of Nursery Road by using the ideas, concepts and insights that led to their tremendous achievements. It is flexible in design and can be modified or adapted to meet the unique needs of diverse schools and communities.

The video includes on-camera interviews with Dr. Christina Melton, then principal of the school, and Superintendent Dr. Steve Hefner.

In addition, ETV developed the We Are the Champions website, through which schools may obtain both the video and the toolkit.

"It is exciting to see the great work at Nursery Road Elementary being held up as an example for other schools to follow," Hefner said. "I am sure this Toolkit for Transforming Schools will be a great resource for school leaders across the state and nation."
