One Arrested, Man Dead in Lexington County Shooting

Lexington County Sheriff's Department investigators still gathering information concerning the shooting on Rhett Road

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department investigators have arrested a man in connection with the shooting death of a 40-year-old man Thursday night.

Rashaad Ali Daniels-Abdullah, 28, of Columbia, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said in a release.

Around 8:40 p.m. Thursday night, officers were called to 213 Rhett Road in Irmo and found that Kelvin Wayne Bouknight, 40, of Columbia had been shot three times.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office later confirmed that Bouknight died as a result of a fatal gunshot wound to the head, according to the release.

Daniels-Abdullah is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center, Metts said.

Investigators are still reviewing the incident to determine if additional charges may be filed.
