Update: Irmo Man Killed in Single-Car Collision

The fatal collision is still being investigated.

Update, 3:32 p.m.: Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has identified the driver killed in a single-car collision that happened on Kennerly Road Thursday morning.

Shane A. Deeds, of Irmo, was driving a Lexus sedan north on Kennerly Road when it ran off the road and hit a tree.

Deeds, who was to turn 34 Saturday, was wearing a seatbelt.

Deeds died at the scene, according to a release.

An autopsy report shows Deeds died from the injuries sustained in the collision.

The S.C. Highway Patrol is still investigating the collision.

 

Original story: The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision involving a single vehicle that happened on Kennerly Road around 3 a.m. Thursday.

Higway Patrol Cpl. Bob Beres said a Lexus sedan was driving north on Kennerly Road when it ran off the right side of the roadway.

The driver overcorrected to the left, struck a pipe and overturned. The car then a tree.

The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was the only occupant of the vehicle.

The collision is under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
