Columbia Woman Hit, Killed When Trying to Cross Road

A Columbia woman was hit and killed while crossing St. Andrews Road Monday night.

Lisa A. Pierce, 49, of Columbia, was pronounced dead at the scene from head and body trauma, according to Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harman.

Around 9:20 p.m. Monday night, Pierce, who was attempting to cross St. Andrews Road at Doe Trail, was hit by a Nissan SUV driven by 64-year-old Evelyn Jones of Irmo, Senior Trooper Brent Kelly of the S.C. Highway Patrol said.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
