Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Vehicle in West Columbia

The Lexington County Coroner's Office investigates death of woman struck by vehicle while crossing road.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the West Columbia Police Department are investigating the death of a woman who died after she was struck by a vehicle when crossing Jarvis Klapman Boulevard.

Coroner Harry O. Harman said Shanon Coleman, 27, of West Columbia, was crossing the road at the intersection of 12th Street and Jarvis Klapman Boulevard around 8 p.m. Saturday when she was struck by a vehicle. 

Coleman was transported to Palmetto Health Richland, where she was pronounced dead at 8:45 p.m. from the injuries she received, according to the Coroner’s Office.

An autopsy performed Sunday revealed that Coleman died from multiple head and body trauma. 

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the West Columbia Police Department.
