Hundreds gathered for the annual Ethic History Parade and Festival held Saturday

The annual S.C. Ethnic History Parade and Gospel Soiree was held Saturday in Columbia in the Waverly and Five Points communities.

The parade, which traveled down Harden Street and ended at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park, featured car clubs, the Columbia High School drumline and local businesses. 

The festivities also included a youth health fair and entertainment by the Columbia High band and local gospel groups.

The annual parade is held each first Saturday and is conducted by FUNDS Inc. – Friends United as a Neighborhood Developmental Society Inc.

The event is held to educate, entertain and celebrate those achievements of those of African descent.
