Photos: Relay for Life Cancer Walk

Hundreds attend the 2012 American Cancer Society's Relay for Life Cancer Walk held at Dutch Fork High School.

The 2012 American Cancer Society's Relay for Life Cancer Walk kicked off Friday evening at Dutch Fork High School with hundreds of survivors, caregivers, friends, family and supporters walking to help raise money for cancer research.

Lori Powers, chairwoman of the committee organizing the Relay for Life event, said there were 42 teams participating in the fundraiser.

The walk featured teams from Lexington-Richland 5, local businesses and community groups.

The event started off with cancer suvivors walking around the track with caregivers and teams joining in the last two laps.

Those attending the event will spend the night enjoying games, food, relay activities, contests and more.

The team has raised more than $89,000. The group's goal is to raise $120,000 or more.
