Police: Men Snatch Purse Outside Local Bar

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department is investigating an incident where two women were robbed at gunpoint outside a bar near Irmo.

On Aug. 9, officers responded to a call about a robbery at the Corner Pocket located at 489 Piney Grove Road, Columbia.

According to an incident report, two women told police they were robbed at gunpoint after leaving the bar to go to one of the victim's car to listen to a song before singing it inside the bar. 

One of the victims said two black males approached them and asked for a cigarette when the two women were outside at the car. 

The woman gave the men a cigarette and the two men walked away acting like they were getting into a car in the parking lot, according to the report. 

When the women began to go back into the bar, the men jumped out and demanded money from them, an officer said. 

The report states that one of the victims refused to give the men any money and one of the men pulled a gun out and pointed it at her. 

The victim said one of the suspects then snatched her pursed and ran to a wooded area. The victim tried to chase after the men but lost them behind a hotel. 

Police searched the area and found a black plastic handgun grip that could have been from a pellet pistol, according to the report. 

The victims said the suspects are two black males between the ages of 20 to 25.

One of the suspects was wearing a red shirt, blue jeans and had dreadlocks. The other suspect was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and had a shaved head.
