Police Search for Suspect in West Columbia Armed Robbery
Detectives have released surveillance photos of a man they say robbed a convenience store near West Columbia.
Lexington County Sheriff’s detectives need the public's help in identifying a man who allegedly robbed a convenience store near West Columbia.
Detectives say around 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 27, a man robbed the Pitt Stop located at 125 Rolling Meadow Lane.
The suspect entered the store with a gun and told an employee to open the store's safe.

The employee, who was unable to open the safe, was then told to give him money that was in the register.
The suspect left the store with about $160 in cash. Witnesses told deputies the suspect drove away in a red car, possibly a Dodge Neon sedan.

The suspect is described as a black male between 6 feet 2 inches and 6 feet 4 inches tall, and weighs between 250 to 300 pounds
The man, who is said to be between the ages of 20 and 30, was wearing gloves on his hands that often are worn by mechanics, according to an incident report.
The gloves were black with a pattern on top of the gloves.
The sheriff's department released surveillance photos of the suspect and of the car that witnesses say he drove away in.
