Portions of Harbison Trails Closed for Timber Harvesting

Portions of three trails at Harbison State Forest have been temporarily closed for a routine timber operation, according to the state Forestry Commission. 

“As part of its regular land management schedule for all Forestry Commission lands, approximately 130 acres of timber are due for harvest at Harbison," forestry officials said in a release.

Sections of Firebreak, Midlands Mountain and Crooked Pine trails will be closed to visitors because of the use of heavy equipment and the chance for falling debris.

The work is expected to continue for about three weeks in the eastern end of the forest.

Visitors are asked to pay attention to signs marking the restricted areas and use the suggested routes during this time.
