Prescription Drug Take Back Held Saturday

Drop off your unused prescription drugs instead of throwing it away.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency is offering you a chance to get rid of your unused and unwanted prescription drugs this Saturday.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can bring unwanted pills and other prescription drugs to the Irmo Police Department located at 1230 Columbia Avenue for disposal. 

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is held to encourage people to safely dispose of their medications in order to help prevent drug abuse.

So don't flush your prescription drugs down the toilet or throw it in the trash. 

According to the 2009 Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s National Survey on Drug Use and Health, more than 7 million Americans abuse prescription drugs.
