Council expected to call for a special election to fill council member Hardy King's seat, now elected mayor

Discussion of a special election to fill the seat of Irmo Town Council member and now newly-elected mayor, Hardy King, will be held during a regular meeting at 7 p.m. tonight.
The meeting will be held in the Municipal Building at 7300 Woodrow Street.
by voters on Nov. 8. A special election is needed to fill the unexpired term, which ends November 2013.

King will be Irmo's first new mayor in 20 years since Mayor John Gibbons announced he would retire.
The council also will have first readings of an ordinance to amend an Irmo Town Code to reduce the filing period from 30 days to 15 days, and an Irmo zoning ordinance to change from the use of the Standard Industrial Codes to the North American Industrial Codes.
