Rainy Weather Delays Turf Installation, Forces Dutch Fork to Move Home Football Game
The location for Dutch Fork High School's first football game has been changed to Chapin High School's field.
Dutch Fork High School will have to play its first home football game at Chapin High School after rainy weather has delayed the installation of artifical turf at the school's field.
Dutch Fork's first home game is on Aug. 31 against Fort Mill High School.
District officials original said the team would play at Irmo High School. It was announced Wednesday afternoon that the team would play in Chapin.

"We think that Irmo's [field] will be ready for their game on [Sept.] 7 and Dutch Fork will be ready for its second home game," said Mark Bounds, public information officer for Lexington-Richland 5.
The artificial turf, which is being installed at all three high schools, looks like natural grass but is made of synthetic fibers.

"It's the same kind of field that's used on 22 of the pro football fields and it's much safer," Bounds said. "The big thing for us is students are going to have back to back events on these fields because they can do band competitions one day, then the next day they can do JROTC."
"We're excited about it."
Officials say Chapin’s field will be ready for its first home game this Friday against Batesburg-Leesville High School.
Irmo is scheduled to play its first home game on Sept. 7 at the W.C. Hawkins Stadium.
