Readers' Choice Winner: Congaree National Park

Patch readers have spoken. Congaree National Park was voted the Best Staycation Destination in the Midlands.

In this week's , we looked for the best location for a staycation or day trip. 

There were many great locations on the list including , Lake Murray and Sesquicentennial State Park but Congaree topped the list. 

Congaree National Park, known as the largest area of bottomland hardwood forest in the southeastern United States, is not only a place where scientists can conduct research but visitors can hike, picnic, go canoeing and kayaking as well as participate in guided nature tours.
