Richland County Penny Sales Tax Informational Meeting Held Today

The public is invited to learn more about the proposed transportation penny sales tax today at Friarsgate Park.

An informational meeting on Richland County's proposed transportation penny sales tax will be held today at 6 p.m.

Richland County staff are campaigning across the county to educate voters about the November referendum to increase the county's sales tax to 8 percent.

The increase — a penny per dollar on most purchases for the next 22 years — is estimated to generate more than $1 billion to be used for the bus system, roadways, bike paths, and pedestrian greenway projects.
