Richland County's Interim Administrator Chosen for Head Post

Richland County's 11-member council unanimously voted to approve hiring Tony McDonald as the county's administrator.

Tony McDonald will serve as Richland County's administrator after an unanimous vote by council members Tuesday.

McDonald has been serving as the interim county administrator. He was also the administrator assistant.

The position is being filled after Milton Pope resigned from the position when his contract ended in June.

McDonald, 52, has worked for Richland County government for 27 years, starting as a research analyst, according to a release.

McDonald said in a release that he is filled with "immense gratitude for the confidence and trust that the council members have afforded him as well as for their unanimous vote."
