School Bus Involved in Chapin Wreck

A school bus carrying 30 Lexington-Richland 5 students was involved in a wreck Tuesday afternoon.

The bus was traveling on Old Lexington Highway in Chapin when the driver swerved to avoid a car that stopped in front of it and slid into a ditch, said Mark Bounds, the district's public information officer.

The bus was leaving Chapin Middle and on the way to Chapin High, Bounds said. 

Two or three students received minor injuries but no one was taken to a hospital.

The students were transferred to another bus and taken to their respective destinations.
