School News: Nursery Road Holds Mock Election, Lil' Champs & More
Students at Nursery Road Elementary School participated in a mock election and Thanksgiving activity.

Students in an early morning "pre-game" program called "Lil Champs" worked on making turkey centerpieces on Nov. 8.
"Lil Champs," a program by library media specialist Jessica Felker, is a club held before school and made up of kindergarten students ages 4 and 5, and their older siblings in fourth and fifth grades.

The students spend quality time in the library, learning how to read, and use reading strategies with their younger brothers and sisters.
The siblings participated in an activity that goes along with the book that was read.

Fifth-grade students at Nursery Road coordinated a schoolwide mock election for the president of the United States on Nov. 2.
All voters were given a sticker to wear saying that they voted in the mock election.
The results were:
- Obama 63%
- Romney 30%
- Johnson 2%
- Stein 5%

Nursery Road also celebrated Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 9, with a musical and spoken word program. Veterans who are friends of the school attended the program which honored all the branches of the military.
