School News: Read Across America Day at Nursery Road & More

A look at what's happening with Nursery Road Elementary School students.

Students at Nursery Road Elementary recently participated in two fun and educational activities.

On February 22, Nursery Road's news crew, WNRE, toured the studio of local television station WLTX.

The fifth graders were able to see the entire studio and learn about the various careers associated with broadcast journalism.  The tour was topped off by a surprise visit from WLTX anchor Darci Strickland.

Karis B.,  a fifth-grade student, summed up the trip by saying, "It was a great learning experience and it was fun to be able to see everything up close and personal. I really like journalism and this opened up many doors for me because I got to see a studio environment and how everything worked."

On Friday, March 1, Nursery Road celebrated Read Across America Day with several readers from the community. The participants read Dr. Seuss stories and told students about their careers.
