Sheriff: Men Killed Gilbert Man After Robbing Him of Painkillers, Money

A West Columbia man was arrested Friday for allegedly shooting and , according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

Detectives arrested Jeremy Seldon Brady, 25, of 106 Half Moon Drive, West Columbia, at about 4 a.m. at his home, Sheriff James Metts said in a release.

Brady is charged with murder, armed robbery and first-degree burglary.

Detectives have also obtained arrest warrants for a 26-year-old Pelion man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting.

Detectives are searching for Nicholas Scott Williams, 26, of 777 Bub Shumpert Road, Pelion.

Williams is wanted on charges of murder, armed robbery and first-degree burglary.

Williams is 6 feet 2 inches and weighs 190 pounds. He has light brown hair and green eyes.

Brady was being held at the Lexington County Detention Center and was scheduled to appear in court today.

Arrest warrants allege that on July 28, Brady and Williams went to the home of Robert Lewis Mitchell, Sr., on Juniper Springs Road near Gilbert under the false pretense of buying prescription painkillers from him.

Detectives say both Brady and Williams had previously bought the prescription painkillers from Mitchell at his home.

Mett said Brady and Williams allegedly went to Mitchell’s home with the intent to rob him of money and prescription painkillers, and then fatally shot Mitchell with a shotgun.

Police say Brady and Williams acted with malice aforethought when they shot and killed Mitchell, shooting Mitchell multiple times in his upper torso.

Brady and Williams then stole money, a safe, credit cards and prescription painkillers that belonged to Mitchell, according to the sheriff’s department.

After obtaining a search warrant, detectives searched Brady’s home and found the stolen safe in a vehicle. A shotgun and ammunition was also recovered from Brady’s home. 

Ballistics tests will be conducted on the shotgun to determine whether the weapon was used to kill Mitchell, according to the sheriff's department.
