Original story, July 16: The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is searching for suspects involved in an incident where one man was shot and killed, and a woman was wounded.
The incident happened about 2:12 a.m. Monday morning at an apartment complex on Riverbend Drive near West Columbia.
Deputies responded to a call about the fatal shooting and found the body of Terance Terell Jackson, 33, of West Columbia, in the front seat of a red, two-door Buick sedan that was parked at the Riverbend Drive apartment complex, Lexington County Sheriff James Metts said in a release.
Jackson and a 24-year-old Cheraw woman were sitting in the car that was parked at the apartment complex.
Jackson died from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso, Lexington County Coroner Harry Harman said in a release.
Bullets lacerated Jackson’s aorta and lungs, and he died within minutes after the shooting, according to the coroner’s report.
Deputies later found the woman at an apartment in the same complex.
The woman, who was shot in the lower torso, had sought help after the shooting, Metts said.
The woman’s name has not been released because she is a witness in the fatal shooting, according to the department.
The woman is in the intensive care unit at a local hospital.
Investigators say the woman met Jackson about a week ago at their workplace and had been to a bar together prior to the shooting.
The circumstances and motive of the fatal shooting remain under investigation.
