Speak Out: Should Concealed Weapons be Allowed in Restaurants & Bars?

A state Senate panel on Wednesday pushed forward a bill that would allow concealed weapons permit holders to carry a firearm into a restaurant and bar. 

The bill, which will move on to the full Judiciary Committee, also said CWP holders wouldn't be allowed to drink alcohol while carrying a weapon and that the owners of the restaurant or bar can choose to post signs banning firearms in their business. The owners could also ask anyone carrying a gun to leave the property. 

Supporters of the bill say the change would give more freedom to those who are responsible and follow the law. 

Opponents of the bill say allowing guns in establishments that serve alcohol is not a good mix.
