Speak Out: Should the Governor Appoint State Education Superintendent?
Legislation proposed in the Senate would ask voters to approve a constitutional amendment that would allow the governor to appoint the state superintendent of education.

The Senate Judiciary Committee will soon review a proposed bill that calls for an amendment to the state constitution to allow the governor to appoint the head of South Carolina's education system.
The constitutional amendment would be put before voters during the general election in 2014 if two-thirds of the Senate and House approve it.
