St. Andrews Food Lion to Close

Another grocery store in the St. Andrews area is closing its doors. 

Food Lion located at 543 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, will close on or before May 22, a corporate spokeswoman told Patch. 

The store — which opened on April 15, 1981 — is closing as a result of the lease ending, said Christy Phillips-Brown, director of external communications and community relations.

The store's hours of operation have been changed to 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday. 

This is the second grocery store to close in the area. Last April, Kroger shut its doors due to declining sales. 

The next closest grocery store is Bi-Lo at the corner of Broad River Road and St. Andrews Road.
