Thanksgiving Day Openings and Closings

It's Thanksgiving morning and you've just realized you've forgotten the cheddar for that all-important macaroni and cheese.

I'm sure by the time you arrive at the store you will have remembered a couple of other things you didn't think about: paper plates, that extra can of Cranberry sauce and don't forget the Ziploc bags and tinfoil to wrap up all those yummy leftovers.

Here are a few stores where you can pick up those last-minute items on Thanksgiving:

• Bi-Lo stores will open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

• Dollar General stores will open from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.

• Family Dollar stores will open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

• Food Lion stores will open from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.

• Walgreens stores will be open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., except for their 24-hours store, which will keep regular hours.

• Walmart stores will be open normal business hours, but check your area store before you head out.

Publix will be closed Thursday.

The following will be closed for Thanksgiving:

Government

• Federal offices will be closed Thursday.

• State offices will be closed Thursday and Friday.

• Richland County offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. Trash from Thursday's route will be picked up on Friday and Friday's trash will be picked up on Saturday. The landfill and Lower Richland Drop Off center will be closed Thursday and Friday.

• Lexington County offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday. Trash from Thursday's route will be picked up on Friday and Friday's trash will be picked up on Saturday.

• The town of Irmo offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. Trash from Thursday's route will be picked up on Friday and Friday's trash will be picked up on Saturday.

• The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Banks

Many banks and credit unions will be closed for Thursday. Please check with your local branch. The following are some of the banks and credit unions that are closed:

• NBSC

• Bank of America

• Regions

• First Citizens

• Carolina Collegiate

• All South Federal Credit Union

• State Credit Union

• BB&T

Sevices

• Post offices will be closed Thursday.

• Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative offices will be closed Thursday and Friday.

• SCE&G will be closed Thursday and Friday.

• All Richland County Recreation Commission facilities will be closed Thursday and Friday. Parks will open on Saturday. The LinRick golf course will be open both days.

• All branches of the Lexington County Public Library system will be closed Thursday and Friday.

• All branches of the Richland County Public Library will close at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and will be closed on Thursday. The library will open Friday.

If you're not cooking a big Thanksgiving feast, the following restaurants will be open Thanksgiving:

• IHOP, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• Ruby Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

• Ruth Chris, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Call 803-212-6666 to make reservations.

New Life Community Church, 10809 Broad River Road, Irmo, will serve a Thanksgiving dinner for the community on Thursday.

If you're looking to burn some calories, New Life Fitness World in Irmo will be open Thursday from 8 a.m. until noon.
