Three District 5 Students Up for Statewide Talent Contest

CrossRoads Middle's Quaseem Nunnally, Chapin High's Cameron Daly and Dutch Fork Middle's Jimmy Byrne are finalists in the third annual BB&T "This School's Got Talent" Competition, hosted by South Carolina Future Minds.

Three students from Lexington-Richland 5 are among the top 10 finalists in a statewide talent search for public school students.

CrossRoads Middle School’s Quaseem Nunnally, Chapin High School’s Cameron Daly and Dutch Fork Middle School’s Jimmy Byrne are finalists in the third annual BB&T “This School’s Got Talent” Competition, hosted by South Carolina Future Minds. 

The District 5 students were chosen from nearly 130 entries, which included submitted videos of South Carolina students showcasing their skills.

Nunnally performed a freestyle dance to portions of two songs, Daly performed an original song, and Byrne played guitar. 

District Superintendent Dr. Stephen Hefner said: “District 5 has many talented students, who excel both in academics and in activities outside the classroom. We are proud of these three finalists in the statewide talent competition and wish them luck in the next round of the contest.”

A winner will be decided by votes, which are open to the public and can be cast through the South Carolina Future Minds Facebook page. Voting ends on March 31, and a winner will be announced on April 1.

The winner will perform at the South Carolina Teacher of the Year celebration on May 1 and be invited to perform at the opening concert for the BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament, which will feature members of Hootie & the Blowfish and other celebrities.
