Traffic Stop Leads to Marijuana Bust near Swansea

A Lexington County K-9 unit arrested two men Friday on drug-related charges.

Two men who were stopped by a K-9 unit near Swansea on Friday were arrested after 10 pounds of marijuana was found in one of the vehicles the men were driving.

Qureshi Kenta Dowling, 32, of 409 Crosby Circle, Greenville, and Stanford Demetrice Felder, 26, of 17675 Heritage Highway, Denmark, were arrested Friday after a deputy and his K-9 partner conducted a traffic stop on both of their vehicles in the 1900 block of Southbound Road near Swansea, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department. 

Police say the K-9 police dog detected the presence of drugs after examining the exteriors of the vehicles.

Ten pounds of marijuana worth about $16,000 and $6,000 in cash was found in one of the vehicles, officials said. 

Dowling is charged with trafficking in marijuana and Felder is charged with possession of marijuana.

Dowling and Felder were being held Saturday at the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
