Two Columbia Men Charged in Attempted Home Burglary
Benjamin Derrick Bethel and Tyrone Lamar Martin were being held on Friday at the Lexington County Detention Center after attempting to steal two bikes from a home.
Two Columbia men were arrested Thursday and each are charged with first-degree burglary after they allegedly tried to steal two bikes from a home near Irmo, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department announced Friday.
Benjamin Derrick Bethel, 22, and Tyrone Lamar Martin, 18, were being held on Friday at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting bond hearings.
Deputies say around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, the two men entered a garage at a home on Goldstone Drive and tried to steal two Schwinn bicycles valued at a total of $600.

The homeowner, who saw both men, later identified the two after they were arrested near a home on Sterling Bridge Road.
