Voter Registration Deadline is Friday
Irmo and Chapin to vote for mayor, council seats
If you're planning to vote in the elections for Irmo Town Council and Chapin Town Council, you must be registered to vote by Friday.
Mayor John Gibbons of Irmo has chosen not to seek another term. Mayoral candidates include council members Kathy Condom, Hardison "Hardy" King and Barry A. Walker Sr.
Suzanne C. Gooch, a local resident, also has joined the race.

Two council seats also are up in November for the town. Condom and Harvery Hoots' terms end Nov 30. Hoots is joined by Sarah Watson and Paul E. Younginer in the race for the council seats.
Both Walker and King have terms that last until 2013.

In the Chapin Town Council race, two at-large seats are up. Incumbents Vivian Atkins and Kay Hollis will face Laura Howell in November.
The two candidates with the most votes will win seats.
To register, visit the Lexington County Voter Registration Office, 605 W. Main St., Lexington. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
