Water Main Break Causes District 5's Lake Murray Elementary to Close
All after school and day care programs have been canceled.
A water main break on Johnson Marina Road has caused Lake Murray Elementary School in Lexington-Richland 5 to close early Friday.
Buddy Price, director of community services, said the City of Columbia reported the water main break early Friday morning and informed the district it could be as late as noon before the line could be repaired.
The district annonced through its Twitter account and district website that the school would close at 10 a.m.

"We can't allow elementary school students to go that long without water," Price said.

The City of Columbia announced there was a break in water lines at 1709 Johnson Marina Road. Customers in the area are currently experiencing no water and very low pressure.
The affected area is from the intersection of Johnson Marina Road and Captain Lowman Road through the 2300 block of Johnson Marina Road.
