“Our district is committed to growing students’ interest in science and math with real-world applications, and the science fair is a continuation of that commitment,” Leann Iacuone, District 5's coordinator of science instruction, said in a release. “This year’s projects were a demonstration of the creativity of our students and the work of our educators – both working together to grow our next generation of scientists, mathematicians and engineers.”

Projects ranged from a study on the evolution of tweeting to one on the efficiency of biodiesel. The categories included: Engineering/Math, Physical Science, Environmental/Earth Science, and Life Science.
