2 Gilbert High Athletes Named 'Academic Athletes'
The Gilbert Community Club presented the two-sport athletes with awards at a recent meeting.

Two Gilbert High School athletes were recognized recently for lettering in two sports and maintaining the highest academic average.Â
The Gilbert Community Club honored senior Chris Dyer, who plays football and baseball, and senior Lexi Kalec, who runs cross country and plays tennis, as Academic Athletes.
Dyer and Kalec were presented with plaques at the club's meeting recently.

The Gilbert Community Club honors two Gilbert High Academic Athletes each year.
The club was established in the 1950s as part of the Clemson Extension Service to raise awareness of small, rural communities. It holds the annual Gilbert Peach Festival on the Fourth of July every year as a fundraiser for the upkeep of the Gilbert Community Park and for other community projects.
