Lexington man killed, another injured in head-on collision Dec. 20 (lexingtonchronicle.com) — A 62-year-old Lexington man, Michael Leon Rather, died after a head-on collision Saturday on Muddy Springs Road near Longs Pond Road and I-20 in the Lexington area. Another driver was injured, and both the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the crash.

Meet News19 Teacher of the Week Jessica Goings (wltx.com) — A longtime Lexington Two educator who now teaches English at Gray Collegiate Academy in Lexington County is being celebrated as News19’s Teacher of the Week. Jessica Goings, inspired by her own Midlands teachers, has spent over 25 years in local classrooms and now teaches alongside her son and future-teacher daughter, who say her passion and support change students’ lives.
   

4. Teens had water gun fight, then a man opened fire with rifle, SC prosecutor says (thestate.com) — A 23-year-old Lexington resident has been sentenced to seven years in state prison after admitting he opened fire with a rifle on teenagers during a water gun fight in Richland County. Prosecutors say one teen suffered permanent injuries but survived. The case underscores how violence elsewhere in the Midlands can still involve and affect Lexington residents.
   

5. Northside Christian girls basketball sees steady start under new head coach with pro playing experience (lexingtonchronicle.com) — Northside Christian Academy’s girls basketball program in Lexington County is off to a 6–3 start under new head coach Jamaal Brown, a former pro player who blends faith and hoops. With key returners stepping into bigger roles, Brown stresses scrappy defense, rebounding, and fun over pressure as the Crusaders rebuild after major offseason departures.
