Benefits Planned for Lexington Boy With Brain Cancer

Chick-fil-A and the Reece Holbrook Win Anyway Foundation are both sponsoring fundraisers for "Richard's Journey" on Feb. 16.

The story of Kennedy Branham, a Lexington middle-schooler with brain cancer, has gripped the hearts of Lexington residents. Now, the story of Branham's friend Richard Culliver, a young boy who also has brain cancer, is touching the hearts of thousands.

And just like Lexington and surrounding communities unleashed their support for Branham, they're doing the same for Culliver.

Culliver was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in October 2012, and he may not have long to live.

"Richard was released from the hospital on Oct. 6 to go home and live the best life he possibly can," according to the Richard's Journey Facebook page, "and that is exactly what his parents are committed to doing."

Several Chick-fil-A locations are holding fundraisers for Culliver on Feb. 16. When customers tell the cashiers that they're "eating for Richard's Journey," 15 percent of their purchase will be donated to Culliver's family.
