Columbia Blowfish Visits Lexington Elementary

"Blowie," the mascot for the Columbia Blowfish baseball team, visited the school's weekly news program.

Lexington Elementary’s school news program, “LES Live,” received a visit from members of the Columbia Blowfish as part of the Blowfish Reading Program contest.

During the weekly news program, Lexington Elementary featured special guests Kelly Evans, Columbia Blowfish assistant general manager, and the team’s mascot Blowie, who spoke to students about the Blowfish Reading Program. During their visit they explained to students the importance of challenging themselves to become better readers and explained how students can win free tickets to a Blowfish baseball game.

The reading program features a month-long reading contest that allows students to earn free baseball tickets for a game this summer during Lexington Elementary Night at the Blowfish stadium.

Students earn free tickets based on how many books they read. Students who read at least four books during the month win four tickets to the game, participate in the pre-game parade and receive a free snack to enjoy during the game.
