Coroner Identifies Leesville Woman in Lexington County Crash

Joyce Long Gray was driving a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria westbound on Cedar Grove Road in Leesville when she struck part of a plow being pulled by a tractor.

A 77-year-old Leesville woman has been identified by the Lexington County Coroner's Office as the victim of a fatal collision Friday afternoon, authorities said Saturday. 

Joyce Long Gray was driving a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria westbound on Cedar Grove Road in Leesville when she struck part of a plow being pulled by a tractor in the eastbound lane.

Gray, who was wearing a seat belt, lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road and hit a tree, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

The accident happened around 3 p.m.

The driver of the tractor, 53-year-old Contreras Martinez, has been charged with leaving the scene of a collision involving death and driving left of the center lane.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
