Coroner Identifies Woman Shot, Killed in West Columbia

The 43-year-old woman was Paula D. Justice, according to the coroner's office.

The woman who was shot and killed Wednesday in West Columbia was 43-year-old Paula D. Justice, according to the Lexington County Coroner's Office. 

Justice died within minutes of being shot in the upper torso, according to the coroner's office. The coroner ruled her death a homicide.

Two men who were repossessing a car in the area saw Justice lying severely injured on Lumberjack Drive around 11:15 p.m. and reported the incident, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department. When EMS arrived, she was still alive.

She was transported to Lexington Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

Justice did not have a permanent address, according to the coroner's office.

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident. 

Investigators say Justice most likely knew her attacker, according to a report from ABC Columbia. They also say Justice has a criminal history of prostitution and drugs.
