Deputies: Lexington Man Burned Children with Metal Cooking Utensil
The man told investigators he burned the children as punishment, according to the sheriff's department.

A Lexington man is facing child abuse charges after deputies say he burned two children with a metal cooking utensil.Â
Nimesh Patel, 36, is accused of placing the hot metal handle of a cooking utensil on the bare skin of two children on April 18, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department. The burns the two children suffered caused scarring and disfigurement to their skin.
Patel told investigators he burned the two children as a form of discipline for poor behavior, according to the sheriff's department. He is charged with two counts of child abuse.

If convicted, he could face up to 40 years in prison.Â
Patel was being held at the Lexington County Detention Center Friday awaiting a bond hearing.
