Detectives Seize 9 Illegal Gambling Devices

The machines were found at two convenience stores near West Columbia.

Detectives and SLED agents seized nine video gambling devices and more than $600 in cash Monday from two convenience stores near West Columbia, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department. 

The detectives found six Pot of Gold video gambling machines at El Cheapo convenience store at 3862 Charleston Highway after a receiving tip from citizens, according to the sheriff's department. The machines in a hidden room at the store. They also seized $657 in cash. 

At another El Cheapo convenience store at 3862 Highway 321, officers seized one table-top Pot of Gold gambling device and two cabinet-style Pot of Gold video gambling devices, according to the sheriff's department. The gaming machines were in two rooms at the back of the store marked "employees only."

Detectives also seized $26 in cash and three surveillance video camers that cashiers at the store used to monitor the rooms with the gambling machines.
