Detectives: Teen Killed 56-Year-Old Man Over Dispute About Dog

Investigators say the motive in Wednesday's shooting involved a dispute over the death of a dog.

Lexington County Sheriff's detectives say a Lexington teen shot and killed his 56-year-old neighbor Wednesday because of a dispute involving a dog.

and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in the death of William Rush Falls.

Investigators say Kight killed Falls because of a dispute over the death of Kight's dog. The dog died after being hit by a car on Old Barnwell Road near Lexington.

Detectives are still trying to determine the exact nature of the disagreement between the two men.

Kight was arrested Wednesday after deputies say he fired one round from a shotgun through the window of Falls' house at 115 Emma Drive. The bullets hit Falls in the face and neck.

Preliminary autopsy results show that Falls died after being shot in the neck, according to the Lexington County Coroner's Office. 

Kight is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
