Gaston Man Charged in Box-Cutter Attack Back in Lexington County
A 35-year-old man charged with attacking his wife with a box cutter was transferred back to Lexington County Tuesday.

A Lexington County man who was arrested in West Virginia after deputies say he attacked his wife with a box cutter at their Gaston home is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
Fugitive investigators brought James Christopher Shawver, 35, back to Lexington County Tuesday, according to the sheriff's department. He is charged with attempted murder and kidnapping.Â
Shawver is awaiting a bond hearing, which has to be conducted by a circuit judge in general sessions court because attempted murder and kidnapping each carry a maximum punishment of 30 years in prison, according to the sheriff's department. The 11th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office has not yet scheduled his bond hearing.Â

He is scheduled to appear in court for a first-appearance hearing at 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to the sheriff's department. During the hearing, a Lexington County magistrate will formally advise Shawver about the charges filed against him and about his legal rights.
Since he was arrested on April 26, Shawver was being held at the West Virginia Southwestern Regional Jail in Holden, West Virginia. Prior to his arrest, he had been on the run after , according to the sheriff's department. The attack happened on April 18 at the couple's home in Gaston.Â
