Lexington High Challenge Teams Win at State-Level Competitions

The Economics and Finance teams will both go on to compete in national challenges.

The Lexington High Economics and Finance Challenge Teams won at the S.C. State Economics and Finance Challenge.

The Economics team, which includes Lexington High students Brian Farchione, Annie Hu, Angella Jiang and White Knoll student Alfred Wong, won the S.C. State Economics Challenge on May 4 at the Darla Moore School of Business located at the University of South Carolina.  

At the competition, the team competed in individual tests, group tests and a quiz bowl playoff. The team qualified to compete at the National Semifinals Economic Challenge.

The Finance team beat 125 other teams from across the state to win the S.C. State Finance Challenge. The team includes Lexington High students Annie Hu, Freddy Huang, Mark Hubbard and White Knoll student Alfred Wong.

At the competition, students competed in knowledge tests relating to personal finance and investing. After winning the State Finance Challenge, team members received a mini iPad and qualified to compete for the National Championship at the National Finance Challenge in St. Louis, Missouri.
