Each student took the written exam, which consisted of 30 multiple choice questions. Next, the schools chose three students to participate in the ciphering competition. The top three scores on the written exam from each school were compiled with the school’s ciphering competition score to give each school a final score, with Lexington finishing third in Division 1.

The individual tournament took the top 16 students from the written exam and paired them randomly for a single elimination tournament. Students then went head to head, answering mathematics questions in 45 seconds or less.
