Update: LHS Freshman 'Stable' After Being Hit by Vehicle

Jordan Ayong was taken to a local hospital Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle.

A Lexington High student is in "stable" condition at Palmetto Richland Hospital after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday near the school.

Jordan Ayong, a freshman at the school, was identified by sources as the victim. On Twitter, family, friends and classmates discussed the crash and Ayong's injuries.

The accident happened between Lexington High and the technology center, said Mary Beth Hill, Lexington One’s chief communication officer.

The vehicle was not driven by another student, Hill said.

A group of students was walking across U.S. Highway 1 in Lexington when one of the students was hit, the Lexington County Sheriff's Department said.
