Lexington Man, Woman Charged with Manufacturing Meth

The two were arrested Saturday after deputies found a reaction vessel at the house where they live.

A Lexington man and woman are facing drug charges after deputies found a reaction vessel used to make methamphetamine at the house where the two live, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.

Robert Michael Yates, 23, and Amber Marie Hubbard, 22, were arrested Saturday after the sheriff's department received a call from Yates' father about a backpack he found near a fire pit at the rear of his property. 

Yates lives at his parents' home on South Lake Drive, according to the sheriff's department. Hubbard is a friend of Yates and rents a room from Yates' parents at the house.

When deputies arrived and searched the backpack, they found a reaction vessel containing a dry white substance, according to the sheriff's department. Narcotics Enforcement Team officers investigated and later arrested Yates and Hubbard. 

Yates and Hubbard were transported to the Lexington County Detention Center.

While searching Hubbard at the detention center, a female correctional officer found two plastic bags with Batman logos in Hubbard's bra, according to the sheriff's department. The two bags contained a substance that Hubbard said was methamphetamine.

Hubbard is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possessing methamphetamine, bringing contraband into a correctional facility, unlawfully disposing of waste from a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory, unlawfully possessing ephedrine and possessing a controlled substance. She is being held on bail totaling $17,500. 

Yates is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, trafficking in methamphetamine and unlawfully disposing of waste from a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory. He was being held on bail totaling $7,500.
