Lexington One's Alternative Program Gets New Director

John Robert Jackson, who currently works at Meadow Glen Middle School, will serve at the director for the district's FOCUS program.

John Robert Jackson will serve as director of Lexington One's alternative program, FOCUS, for the 2013-2014 school year, the district announced this week.

The school board voted Tuesday night to promote Jackson, who is currently dean for innovative relationships and learning at Meadow Glen Middle School.

Jackson will replace . Harpe’s retirement is effective June 30.

Jackson, who has 10 years of educational experience, began his education career in 2003 as a science teacher, head track coach and assistant football coach at Lexington Middle School. He was promoted in 2006 to the position of administrative assistant and promoted in 2008 to the position of assistant principal.

In 2010, he began serving as hearing officer for Lexington One. Jackson transferred to Meadow Glen Middle School when it opened this fall as dean for innovative relationships and learning.

Jackson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Clemson University and a Master of Education in Education Administration from the University of South Carolina. He is certified as an elementary principal and elementary supervisor and in middle school science and elementary.

He is a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators, South Carolina International Reading Association, South Carolina Middle School Association and Lexington One’s Schools of the Future Community Task Force. He is also a SREB Making Middle Grades Work Technical Assistance Visit evaluator.
