Nationwide Insurance Customers Victimized by Security Breach

Coming on the heels of the SC Department of Revenue breach, another 12,500 South Carolina insurance customers may be at risk of identity theft.

Even if you're not one of the millions of current or former South Carolina residents who had their personal information stolen this fall from the S.C. Department of Revenue, you may not be out of the woods yet.

Nationwide Insurance had information from 12,490 South Carolinians stolen from its computer system, according to a news release Wednesday from the state Department of Insurance (see attached release).

The breach occured nearly two months ago and authorities have been investigating.
