Karey Fisher of Nursery Road Elementary Arts Magnet is being honored for expanding arts integration, innovative learning, and student-centered leadership, bringing national recognition to the Lexington-Richland 5 community.
   

2. Lexington County considers new zoning rules to protect Lake Murray and promote smart growth (wltx.com) — Lexington County is weighing a new Central Lexington County Overlay District that would reshape how neighborhoods are built around the Town of Lexington and along Lake Murray. The proposal ties higher housing density to stricter design, tree, and lake-protection standards, including limits on mass grading near the shoreline. Residents are encouraged to contact council members or attend meetings as details are still being refined.
   

3. ‘Endangered' Teen Missing Since November Recovered; Police Arrest Her Boyfriend in Relation to Disappearance (justjared.com) — A 16-year-old girl who left her Lexington home in November has been found safe, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies have arrested her 18-year-old boyfriend, accusing him of obstructing the investigation and contributing to the delinquency of a minor; he’s being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
   

4. Driver charged after Christmas Eve wrong-way crash killed two on Platt Springs Road (wltx.com) — Two people, including a 1-year-old child, were killed in a Christmas Eve wrong-way crash on Platt Springs Road in Lexington County, and a Columbia man now faces multiple felony DUI charges. Troopers say he was driving west in the eastbound lanes when his SUV hit a Ford Focus, killing two occupants and injuring another, and he’s being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
   

5. South Carolina Lowcountry counties among leaders in human-trafficking cases, AG says in annual task force report (wbtw.com) — Lexington County recorded 27 human-trafficking investigations in 2025, placing it among the top five counties in South Carolina for reported cases. State officials released new task force data and highlighted expanded safe-house certifications and services, stressing that most tips involved minors and urging residents to use the national hotline to report concerns or seek help.
