Pray 4 Nathaniel: Eighth-Grader with Cancer to Undergo Brain Surgery

Nathaniel Fournel and his parents, Daniel and Stephanie, will travel to New York City this week.Â
They'll enjoy some sightseeing, a Broadway play and good food.
But that's not the reason for their trip.

Nathaniel, an eighth-grader at Pleasant Hill Middle School, has to have brain surgery. He was diagnosed with brain cancer in December. Since then, he's gone through four rounds of chemo, but the tumor hasn't responded enough to the treatment.Â
Nathaniel's doctor gave his parents the news last week.Â

"When his oncologist called, I cried and I was angry but not at him," Stephanie wrote in an update on Nathaniel's CaringBridge website. "Then he asked to pray with me, and that brought a sense of peace!"Â
The surgery is schedule for noon on March 20.Â
